Years ago, millionaire sports team owners started holding teams for ransom if they did not get a new stadium.
There was nothing wrong with the original Tampa Stadium, but they threatened the spectators with moving the team
and exploited the tax paying suckers. In NC, the Charlotte Hornets threatened the same thing.
-------------------
Prior to building the new stadium, the Buccaneers owner acquired the development rights to all the land South of the original stadium.
When the new stadium was built at taxpayer expense, the millionaire Malcom Glaser made more millions by "allowing" the new stadium to be built since he owned the "rights" to the land.
------------------
It was traitorous for any sports guy in the bay area not to support a new stadium.....so they sold us out.
Pretty cool eh? Threaten to move the team, unless you can make even more money?
-------------
And mercy sakes! have we forgotten that for two years, the Tampa Bay Bucs were living in Orlando?
This was after the new stadium was built! Did the sports guys feel stupid for suckering in the public when
they still called them the "Tampa Bay Bucs"?
---------------
I wonder what is happening in the lives of people who cannot exist unless they need something bigger than themselves
to give their money to. Even today some fans call the Bucs "my team".
Oh yeah? How much of the Raymond James money do you get from "your" team?
