Graham Goodwin 8 hours ago Four cars have fallen foul of post-race penalties at the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours, with the the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing GTE Pro team suffering the most.
Revised results by classThe CGR Ford GT camp was hit with a pair of penalties, one of which drops the No. 67 Ford UK from fourth in class to 12th. This was a big hit to its championship points haul, as the Le Mans 24 Hours offers 150 percent of a regular six-hour WEC race score.A failure by Tony Kanaan to complete his required driving time by a full 44 minutes was the cause; the penalties levied equating to completed laps deleted from the finishing order calculated by using the fastest race lap completed by the car in question, meaning the No. 67 loses a full 11 laps.A separate two-lap penalty for the No. 69 Ford USA entry — levied for Scott Dixon’s failure to complete his minimum hours after the car spent much of the final two hours of the race in the pits with an electrical glitch — does not impact its finishing position of 14th in GTE Pro.

In LMP2, the fourth-placed car also received a penalty with the TDS Racing ORECA 07 Gibson having a single lap deducted for effectively the opposite offense, as Francois Perrodo exceeded his permitted four hours of driving in a consecutive six-hour period by four minutes. The No. 28, however, remains fourth in class.Finally, the No. 5 TRSM Racing Ginetta LMP1 car was docked six laps as Leo Roussel fell some way short of his minimum time. The car drops one place in the final finishing order to the No. 86 Gulf Porsche but remains a classified finisher.
