By: RACER Staff May 23, 2018 8:20 AM It’s the ultimate gift for any aspiring racer or the perfect Father’s Day gift.Through the Bertil Roos Racing School, one can go from a spectator to becoming a SCCA and NASA licensed racer in just five days. No prior experience is required and you will be eligible to enter the Roos Formula 2000 Racing School and will have fulfilled the requirements for a SCCA competition license. The racing suit and helmet are provided as you learn the highly intricate and technical form of road racing.

Five-day programs are available on the following dates:

• Palm Beach International Raceway: June 18-22

• New Jersey Motorsports Park: July 9-13

• Pocono Raceway: August 6-10

• Palm Beach International Raceway: September 10-14

• Palm Beach International Raceway: November 12-16The five-day road racing school starts with a brief classroom introduction on day one, followed immediately by a track session in one of Bertil Roos Racing School’s patented slide cars. An additional classroom session follows with on-track practice in street cars.Day two begins with another classroom session, followed by another on-track session. This session is to ingrain every bump, wrinkle and visible marker into your racing mindset. With an abundance of seat time, there are four additional track sessions.Now, it’s time to apply the new skills and acquire additional advanced techniques on day three. A slide-car session is combined with five track sessions in the race cars to help trim those last few tenths of a second off.The fourth day features a chance to climb into the race cars and go wheel-to-wheel and nose-to-tail with Bertil Roos Racing School’s world-class instructors as they show the safest and most effective passing techniques. You’ll learn drafting, practice race starts, qualifying strategy and racing tactics.Day five is structured like race day with practice, qualifying and two eight-lap races. Each session is preceded by a classroom session explaining the techniques to use and goals to shoot for. It’s participating in your first race, but having the advantage of Bertil Roos Racing School instructors watching and helping you every step of the way.Now is the perfect time to sign up as the five-day programs are sure to fill up.
