Respect is being paid to the late Dan Gurney by some of IMSA's finest teams and drivers during this weekend's Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Gurney, whose All American Racing team terrorized IMSA GTO and GTP competition in the 1980s and 1990s, holds a special place in the hearts of many in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Roger Penske, Wayne Taylor, Bob Stallings, Corvette Racing crew chief Dan Binks, and Bill Riley were among the first to insist their cars carried the Gurney memorial stickers, and numerous drivers – from Mazda Team Joest's Jonathan Bomarito to United Autosports' Fernando Alonso – asked for the logos created by artist Andy Blackmore to carry into the race.
