A new era will begin at Irwindale Speedway on Feb. 1, just weeks after it was thought that the motorsports and entertainment facility would end operations.

A group of motorsports enthusiasts including racer/business owner Tim Huddleston, Bob Bruncati and Justice Brothers will continue to produce Thursday Night Thunder on the drag strip and weekly racing series events on the half-mile speedway. The news comes on the heels of an announcement of a new multi-year agreement to keep the 63-acre Irwindale Event Center (home to the speedway and drag strip) open and in full operation in concert with property owners Team 211 Entertainment, led by president/CEO Jim Cohan.
"We are excited to keep the amazing events of the past and bring new exciting shows to the families and fans that have joined us over the years," Huddleston said. "Jim Cohan and 211 Entertainment were instrumental in this transition and I'm thankful they kept the track running the last five years."
In July 2017, Team 211 Entertainment, which has operated the facility since the first operators of the track closed it under a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in 2012, were informed that their lease would not be renewed and that Jan. 31, 2018 would be 211's last day of operation at Irwindale. But three months after the announcement was made public a change in the owner's plans for the property led them to contact Cohan to indicate that a contract extension would be offered.
