This movie was a big deal in 1978 when I was 11. The book was a best seller and all the English teachers were talking about it and recommending it. It was not on the school reading list but because the book had won and award and was so popular one of the teachers got a copy and lent it out to those who couldn't buy the book and we did talk about it in class.

All the girls were reading the book and talking about it after school then it was announced that they had made the book into a movie and all my 11 year old friends were very excited about it! I still remember riding my bike to the park with my best friend at the time and talking about the book and the movie. We both had terrible crushes on Bruce Davidson! This movie brings back a lot of memories!
