At the presentation of the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series and the new 700 hp 911 GT2, Porsche compared them to the legendary 935 race car. Walter Röhrl, who raced the 935, told our Máté Petrany that
he didn't quite agree with that assessment, saying that the GT2 RS was a 'fingertip exercise' and that he had to keep both hands and a knee on the wheel of the 935 to keep it straight.
Röhrl even declined to drive the 935 at the Le Mans Classic because of how hard it was to drive. So, if you want a 911 GT2 RS, feel free to go buy one, but if you want a truly hard to drive Porsche, why not cough up $1.2 million for this lovely 935 instead?
This particular car was owned by the late Bob Akin and raced at Le Mans, though it retired from that race. It has an amazing Coca Cola livery and has been fully restored. It looks spectacular, and part of that is because this is no ordinary 935. It's been modified with a Lola T600 nose and a new monocoque to become a "Super GTP" 935. It also has somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 horsepower.
And while you can pay somewhere in the $300,000 neighborhood (before the dealer markups you know are going to happen) for a new, 700 hp, 'fingertip exercising' GT2 RS, why not pay $1.2 million
to the Porsche experts at Canepa for the 800 hp full-body workout that is the 935?
