Thousands of enthusiasts seize the opportunity to take a step back in time, revelling in the period atmosphere as Spitfires soar overhead and hordes of classic Jaguars and Ferraris line-up in all their glory.
Highlights of the 2014 Goodwood Revival included three big anniversaries - the 60th birthday of both the voluptuous Jaguar D-type Le Mans racer and the Maserati 250F Formula One car, as well as 50 years since Sir Jackie Stewart made his stunning debut in a single-seater car at the Goodwood circuit.
In the skies above West Sussex not one but two Second World War Lancaster bombers thundered past with a Spitfire escort, while 1950s jet aircraft like the Canberra and Hunter swooped fast and low over the heads of spectators.
As ever though, the Revival was about more than just high-speed machinery. Thousands of visitors to the annual event sported vintage clothing as they perused period details included faithful recreations of the Earls Court Motor Show, the 1954 Monza pit lane and the Hooper coachbuilders trim-shop.
