One of the biggest attractions on Fourth of July weekend for sports car racing fans will be the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, an endurance classic held at Watkins Glen International featuring the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
To commemorate the Independence Day weekend, an array of racecars competing throughout the weekend will display specially-designed patriotic liveries. This celebratory initiative has become a new tradition at Watkins Glen, with cars participating from not only the WeatherTech Championship, but also the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.
In an effort to promote the teams’ designs, IMSA will be holding a social media contest for fans to vote on their favorite liveries. More than 15 cars will display patriotic liveries throughout the event weekend, including BMW Team RLL, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing, 3GT Racing and Michael Shank Racing.
Television coverage for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen begins on FS1 at 10 a.m. for three hours, followed by three and a half hours of coverage on FS2 starting at 1 p.m. It will be streamed live in the U.S. in its entirety on the FOX Sports GO app with FS1 authentication, and also will be broadcast live from flag-to-flag on IMSA Radio via IMSA.com, RadioLeMans.com and SiriusXM Radio.
