NTT DATA will expand its sponsorship deal with Chip Ganassi Racing by addings its colors to Scott Dixon's No.9 entry for this weekend's Verizon IndyCar Series race at Long Beach.
NTT, which is the primary sponsor on Tony Kanaan's No.10 entry this year, will also feature as an associate-level sponsor on Dixon's car for other events including Phoenix and Indianapolis.
"This will be a bit of déjà vu for TK and I, going back to when he first joined the team in 2014 and we were in similar livery with the same partner," said Dixon.
CGR president Steve Lauletta said that he is excited by the opportunity to further develop the team's relationship with NTT, and that the search for a permanent backer for Dixon's car remains ongoing.
"It's always a positive when you have a current partner that sees value in the sport and wants to do more," he said.
"I think that really speaks to the success of the program for their business. We had an opportunity early in the season to align their focus markets with the No. 9 car, which resulted in an expansion of their racing program. While this allows NTT DATA more opportunity with two cars in the short term– much like Target did previously in their key markets– we are still focused on locking in a full-time partner for the No. 9 car in 2017."
NTT DATA first partnered with Ganassi in 2013, when it sponsored Ryan Briscoe's No.8 entry at the Indianapolis 500
