As I get ready to head down to Las Vegas for the 2017 SHOT Show, I’m reminded once again of all it represents:
Hard work. Opportunity. Freedom.
That’s why, in recent years, I’ve come to think of this amazing event as the culmination of the “Responsibly Armed” American Dream.
See, down here, no matter where you turn, you’ll see more than just big-name gun manufacturers. You’ll see plenty of motivated individuals — responsible, law-abiding citizens — who share a passion for firearms and for protecting their loved ones. THIS is why SHOT Show means so much to me. Every year is a new and unique experience, and it always gives me reason to pause in deep appreciation for the USCCA — and, of course, for YOU.
It also gives me reason to reflect on just how far I’ve come — just how far we’ve come.
You’ve heard the story of my first-ever SHOT Show (over a decade ago now) where I was desperately trying to spread the word — to no avail — about Concealed Carry Magazine and responsibly armed Americans.
And you’ve heard how that story finally came full circle when, a few years back, I was able to distribute over 5,000 copies of the magazine and connect with hundreds of people looking to keep their families safe.
And so you see, things have really evolved. We have evolved. I say that because, honestly, what happens here in Vegas is really all about you:
It’s about sharing the USCCA’s mission.
It’s about recognizing and celebrating responsibly armed Americans.
And so I think you deserve to know about a few of the incredible (and exciting) things happening this year.
First and foremost, we’re lauding the launch of Concealed Carry Women’s Magazine and will be handing out free copies at our booth, #L208, located in the Level 2 lobby. (Our ladies’ room sponsorship also celebrates CCMW — we’ve designed special mirror decals that allow women to see themselves on the cover of the new magazine!) In addition, we’ll be giving away complimentary “Responsibly Armed American” t-shirts, designed by Nine Line Apparel. Be sure to stop by our booth to snag both of these freebies.
I’m also excited to announce that we’re the sole sponsor of the New Product Center, one of SHOT’s most visited resources. We’re also once again sponsoring the charging stations you’ll find around the show.
If you’re interested, you can catch me on SHOT Show TV during the event … I’ll be covering some of USCCA’s best products and, of course, our great membership benefits. You’ll also have the chance to see our new commercial on SHOT Show TV; it’ll be airing in hotel rooms and all across the show floor.
It’s sure to be a great week, and I’m both honored and humbled to represent YOU, through the USCCA, at this year’s show.
