Click on the link for the Facebook page of Central Ohio Insurance Services – Facebook.com/COISinsurance – and the first thing you notice is the photo in the right-hand corner of a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro performing a massive burnout.

That would be the Camaro of Bill Lutz, who co-founded the Pickerington, Ohio insurance agency in 2007. Lutz has 16 years' experience in the insurance industry, and has been racing since he was just 15.
He quickly became an award-winning agent by receiving State Agent of the Month award early in his career, then went on to win the J.D. Powers Award of Excellence for superior customer service. He also takes time to give back to the community by talking with teens about safe driving and how it can affect their insurance.
Lutz finished second in IHRA Pro Mod points in his Camaro in 2015. In late 2014, he announced that he would be moving to the new class.
"I had been working with the IHRA tech department for some time trying to help shape the rules for the new class," he said then. "It was an honor to work with an organization which has a primary purpose to support the racers, fans and industry as a whole. Their vision for the future of drag racing and for the Pro Mod class has many of the competitors looking forward to the inaugural season of the rejuvenated class. We have great expectations for the IHRA and Pro Mod in general."
After a strong start in 2016 in his Camaro, Lutz had to undergo some relatively routine surgery. Said his sister Jeani: "He went in for an emergency gall bladder surgery in early May and the surgeon knicked his pancreas and his bile duct. This has led to all of his organs shutting down, dialysis, feeding tubes, colostomy bags, and way too many hospital stays." Lutz is improving, and we hope to see him back on the track in 2017.
Lutz has been a friend to many in racing in general, the IHRA in particular, and despite his absence from work, Central Ohio Insurance Services remains committed to offering the best service and the best prices to customers, both in racing and out. The company's web site is coiservices.com.
