"Are you off duty now?" "No, now I'm thirsty." Wonderful movie. Reynolds is superb. I like the way she sits like a man (legs spread) and affects male mannerisms. Previn makes fine use of minimal thematic material (a few phrases from his title song with soon to be wife Dory Langdon). I'm surprised Reynolds wasn't more provocatively dressed when she first appears as a woman and Pat Boone sees her for the first time since bringing her to the home. Maybe that was Reynolds' choice or Minnelli was just conservative. In many ways this is Billy Wilder cynical territory and he almost got the movie but rejected it.
