In 1988, a bronze plaque was affixed to the original building, commemorating the historical significance of the site. But the Motel Inn, as it had come to be named, closed in 1991, and today only the mission-style tower and one wing of the original building remain standing. The photos accompanying this story depict one of the motel’s post cards from years ago, and the property as it appeared earlier this year.
Today the property is owned by the larger and newer Apple Farm inn next door, which, in catering to automobile travelers, vacationers, and tourists, is without doubt a direct descendent of the Milestone Mo-Tel.
