Default Problems clocking and installing turbo lines gtx3076r 1.06ar twin scroll

Hello All,

Before I go to the local turbo shop I figured Id post my problem with clocking my turbo and turbo lines for my GTX3076r Twin scroll.

1. I purchased this turbo from Full-Race and it was already loose and I was able to get my center section and compressor housing all lined up or "Clocked". But when I tried to tighten down the bolts on the turbine side, I just couldn't get any wrench on 2 of them to tighten them down. I got 4 out of 6 but 2 are just so close turbine housing and space between turbine and compressor is so small i just cant get to them with any wrench/socket. I had to use a 1/2" 1/4drive socket on a tiny breaker bar just to get to the other 4. Im half tempted to grind down the 12point socket but figured there has to be a better way, and I cant be the first to run into this problem. Im thinking I could just get a smaller AR turbine housing but that's a ~$500 purchase I really shouldn't have to make.

Has anyone run into this? If so what did you do to tighten these down?

2. I used the circuit sports top mount kit for turbo lines. The Turbine housing is so fat that I cannot turn the -3 oil feed line onto the turbo feed fitting. The corners of the hose end nut hit the housing. Same goes with the one of the water line hose ends.

Any suggestions?

I hate to admit this but I have already took a dremmel to the turbine housing in 2 places and now have all my hose ends and fittings on the turbo. But now when the turbo center section is clocked so the oil drain will clear the t4 flange on my manifold pointing down, the hose end for the water feed is in the way of one of the bolts to tighten down the turbo for final positioning. This is really getting me mad. Ill also hate to admit it but this is my first turbo build, but seriously, every video or how to shows me how easy it is to clock your turbo, but those bolts are so accessible compared to my turbo. Im thinking this is an issue only with GTX3076r turbos with 1.06ar, but i do not have the experience to make this assumption.

Hope my explanation is clear enough. If you have questions, please ask. If you have a solution, please share.
