Ellen, you are correct. At one time churches took care of people in their own community.
Once the govt jumped in, it is now a totally different plan, generally to buy votes.
And of course as with all govt programs, the cost went up........tremendously......
and has the problem been solved? If course not. If govt solved problems there
would no longer be a need for a govt to solve all your problems...... lol
and to charge you appropriately......
