Red Bull Global Rallycross fans who expected to see Alex Keyes make his GRC Lites debut in Fort Lauderdale were in for a surprise when Duncker Felix Jr. (Driving Instructor for The FIRM) stepped into the #61 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing car for the opener. Keyes, at the time battling illness, wasn’t cleared to drive for the weekend, necessitating the last-minute switch and relegating the Californian to the spotter’s stand for the weekend.
But in his adaptation to all-wheel drive, Keyes spent plenty of time testing. The most recent on-track session came on Wednesday, when Keyes and teammate Miles Maroney shook down their cars at The FIRM Rally School, roughly an hour away from the track.
