Actually, when Parnelli said that Mark Donohue was on the pole, he was probably referring to the 1971 race. But that's a factual error. Donohue was the fastest at Indy that year, practicing at up to 182 MPH, but he slowed down with a setup he didn't like that Penske's mechanics put on his car for his qualifying, and Peter Revson actually won the pole for that race, using the qualifying setup Donohue wanted to run himself.
