That rear wing is not so pointless

it doesn't generate any downforce, that's true, but the factory guys and engineers back then discovered that the car's top speed is actually greater by 12 km/h (that's about 5-6 mph) with the rear booth lead open

So it actually improves the overall aerodynamics of the car
