What about if you modify something with factory parts? Do they try to wiggle out of the lifetime maintenance?
mods would have to be done at the dealership with Subaru parts

downside being you are limited to what parts are available

upside being everything including the upgrade parts are warranteed

Through my local dealer I have a 250K mile drivetrain warrantee in addition to the free lifetime maintenance, so I am not messing with my main source of transportation for the family.
The Forester has been rocksolid reliable, gets about 30mpg, and is very fun to drive with the 5sd manual trans.
