i have a 1997 bmw 328 ic , car ran perfectly and then went to start it and cylinder 2 the ignitor got very hot and melted the layer of plastic off it and car is not firing on this cylinder , so i bought a new coil thinking it was that and it got hot as when i plugged it in as well and the idle dropped a bit like its straining the electrical system like its a short of the coil is getting too much current, my question is could this be ecu related or is there a seperate module that controls the ignitors? also i replaced the ignitor harness thinkg it may have been that but it didnt fix the problem , plugs and plug boots are new as well, if you are a mechanic and may know a thing or two about this i would really like some help on this, and how much this will cost me , my cell is 8136506592 chris.
