Any tire will wear quickly if: 1. it is a softer compond (below 300) 2. if you beat the shit out of it 3. if you do not have a proper alignment or tire psi..

I just put my second set of Avid V4 touring tires on my work mule. And they hold the big boy on the road with no problem. Plus Yokos are well know for many things especially for there wet traction. So being that you have a truck and it rains here a lot that should do the job for you in all conditions.
