I understand fully Tony. I was a crew chief/plane captian/door gunner for 5 years.
Basically a 3rd crewmember that did not actually fly. Although I always had input into the decision making process in the cockpit. My last few years I became fully aware that I was putting my life in some other yahoos hands. And many time (more than I can count) those yahoos put my life in jeapardy.
I dont even like to get on an airliner anymore because I dont know whats going on in the cockpit.
