Remove the idiot light bulb from behind the instrument panel. The check engine light is not a fatal error to your vehicle, so it won't matter if it is not in place. I have no cat...worked fine for me.
good thought but that is not too intelligent... on some cars you count the flashing of the "idiot light" to tell you what code it is throwing... also, i dont know what other cars are like this but i know hondas have a "safe mode" that they run in if they are throwing the right code or the right amount of codes... so this means the car will just limp home for you to fix it... so i dont think this is a good idea at all...
