I need to do a half-tank hypermiling trip in my Miata and see what it will do. (isn't it dumb to go waste gas to demonstrate how much fuel you can conserve?)
I've added some lightness to it (removed some minor trunk panels and such), put a 7-pound flywheel and recently a set of 10.5 pound wheels. 14-pound tires of slightly taller diameter are coming soon, as well. It's all making the car FEEL fantastic, very light, nimble and "classic sportscar" like. But, I expect I should be able to break 40 mpg with it pretty easily. (still getting 28-32 running around town and generally driving the snot out of it a lot) EPA says 28 highway... 40% more is 39.2... I'm confident that I could do that if it was stock. So, I'll predict 40-44.
