Default Using a VTEC on a non VTEC engine...

I have a 2002 Honda Accord with a nonVTEC engine. The head went back and I swapped it out with (unfortunately) a VTEC head. When I started up the car, it ran great...for about 20 seconds... until I noticed a huge pool of oil under the car! I since discovered that there is an extra port on this head for the VTEC solenoid. My question is this.. can I still use this head if I just block up the solenoid hole or simply install a solenoid there? Will the car run OK? I'm assuming that the mechanical working of the cam and rocker arms would be the same as the nonVTEC... HELP!!!!!>!>!!

Thanks for any help!
