No transmission shop is with out error. The following is 100% true.
Local here had trasmission built with Shepard Trans. It cost well over 2000. The trans started grinding 5th gear one or two months after install. Shep got the call he said send it back. The trans was shipped back. Shep does not pay for shipping or trans R &R. The trans came back they put it back in car. It happen again in two short months 5th was grinding again. A second time the trans was removed and shipped back. agin at the cost of poor customer. Guess what ? It happened a third time. But this time Shep got an earfull on the phone. "just send the parts so we can fix it here" he did. thats all I heard about the story but I think project failed due to high maintenance costs
and just recently I local here brought an evo trans to me to freshen up and install HKS 4.11. The gear was purchased from Shep for 900+. the 4.11 gear comes in mitsu built car. you can buy those parts for about 600 from mistu. The parts I installed came in mistubishi boxes. The part numbers were torn off the boxes. ended up the gear ratio was hurting and not helping so we reinstalled the factory 4.53. When the final 4.11 was removed it was mysteriously chipped on half the teeth. The matter was brought to sheps attention and he said to send the gear back so he could shave the chipped portion of the gear off. he said it should have been dome before shipment and apologized for it.
