first thing I noticed were idle changes. idles smoother now. and before it wouldnt idle lower than 800 with biss screw all the way in. now it will idle at 600...first few drives with water not yet topped off were disappointing. trapped air in system increases detonation. knock tables looked pretty much the same. and car felt slower. boost curves looked different, with less boost at higher rpms. took a break and thought about all the subtle changes that were made.
cam gear settings were thrown off. more advanced now. old head was shaved about .030. this retards cam gears as head is closer to block the belt gets longer. compression is lower now. this head has never been shaved, old compression around 9.5 new at 9.0. and of course porting. poor porting can slow velocity and kill torque. and CAS had to be reset. so timing could easily differ by one degree.
made some tweaks to came gears and timing. trying to duplicate prior settings. and fruits starting to showing up. finally less knock spikes from 2/4. new best airflow numbers. old best was 50.3 lbs/minute. new best of 54 lbs/minute. AVCR relearning boost plots return to normal. same boost, same tune, less compression, and the car is FASTER. awe yes....
and now the power band doesnt feel 2.3 like. feels more like a 2.0 now. pulls much better high rpm. feels like the yellow car power band. power band is far more inviting. very happy with results and time spent.
