Beams isn't that impressive of a powerplant. In it's day, it was pretty sweet. 210hp NA in 1998, when Nissan was getting 200hp NA from the SR16VE. You'd be hard pressed to make 200whp from the Beams in a street trim. Plus they're hella expensive. With an SR-DE rwd block, SR20VE for the head/pistons/crank/rods, S15 6sp, a few choice 20V parts, and an S14DET ECU, you can have the same thing for less and have it all bolt in. I would do a BEAMS if I were building an old Toyota or lightweight IS300, but that's about it. But, hey, not my call.

The ECU is cake. Apexi makes a PowerFC for it. Done.

If I were going cross-brand 4cyl, I would drop an F22C in there. Plenty of copies and support in the US, lightweight, compact, and VTAK.
