You hit the nail on the head. Just to reiterate this point further, previously on my 9 second pass with this turbo setup I was shifting at 8,000rpms even and revving out to approx: 8,700rpms through the traps. Even with the increase in power from the motor/port work, the power curve will be relatively similar which will make the ideal shift points about the same as before. There is no reason to ring these motors out to 9,000rpms for shifting unless your running 85lbs/min + turbo setups. Anyone who revs a 4g63 that high with a smaller setup is not only making their car slower by taking it out of its powerband, but is also being wreckless and irresponsible with their motor as well.
