Until lap times are posted everyone assumes you can't drive. Even after they are posted, only drivers who track their cars truly know whether or not you can drive. And drag racing isn't "racing" it's drag racing. "racing" involves turns. I prefer this because it involves much, much more skill.
Anyone can pay to have any car in the world do a fast 1/4, whether it's a smart car, a '63 lincoln, or a honda crx. Until the cars are fairly equal, you behind the wheel hardly matters. And are you seriously so unlearned about the sport of drag racing that you don't realize that it was pioneered by big engined american cars with rednecks behind the wheel?
edit: and the difference of a good driver vs a bad one on a road course is almost unreal. I saw a guy take a rental dodge caliber through turns faster then a modded s2000, just because he had infinitely more seat time then the s2k driver.
