It honestly just sounds like the motor isn't timed properly. As Sean mentioned reset the crank to Top Dead Center. Line the Timing mark on the crank pully with the 0 on the Lower Timing belt cover. Then set the timing on the crank shafts. Manually crank the motor 360 degrees. One full cycle, and then check to make sure all the marks line up at Top Dead Center. If not, readjust and repeat.
