I think they sit outside for a few reasons. I agree it's because they don't have a job, but I also think it's because they have a reputation to uphold. They didn't get the term porch monkey from going out with their friends and sitting inside playing c-lo. Also, they're probably broke as fuck and using what money they do get from the government on drugs so they probably do not have a working air conditioner (or electricity at all) and will take any passing breeze that comes by as a gift.
