SCCA Nats is a different world. There you have people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars preparing their cars for a championship where they get exactly 3 runs on a course. Every run counts. Every thousandth of a second counts.
Those guys clean track "pick-up" rubber from their tires because they don't have the luxury of driving around a bit to let it fall off on its own.
