yes I belive piston rings rotate.
For the hell of it i took a little briggs 2 hp engine took it apart marked on the head where the rings were and ran it for about 10 min at 2k rpm and the rings moved how far i dont know cause they could of went around 5 times and i would think it is only 1 time
