Whats the point of stretching a 235 tire on a 17x9 wheel? The correct size for 17x8 is 245 tire. The side wall should not be stretching to meet the lip of the wheels. When the rim is wider than the tread on the tire you have an incorrect tire size.

For cars with ABS,.. the following wheels are the correct diameter to prevent ABS failure.
245/45 R17 for 17x8 wheels
275/40 R17 for 17x9 wheels,.. (A 245/45 will work in a pinch)
315/35 R17 for 17x10.5 wheels

Thats it. Mixing and matching any other sizes changes the diameter and are incorrect width for the wheels.
A 225 or 235 tire would be better suited to a 17x7 wheel. My wife's Tiburon GT had 225 tires on 17x7 wheels.
