Hey guys, like the post says I want to put together a 24 hours of lemons team and I need 3-5 other people interested in being a part of the build, and campaigning process.
I have competed in 6 Lemons races with 3 different teams/cars, one of which I built myself. Ideally, I want to put together a team that will last for at least a couple of years. From my experience it will cost somewhere in the $3,000-$4,000 range to build the car, each race is $500/car and $100/driver to enter, and you must invest in approximately $600 in race gear personally if you do not have it already.
All in all, the start up is the most expensive part. I would be looking to split all costs and work evenly within the team. For the prices listed, to go genuine, big race track, door to door racing, it is a bargain.
I have a trailer, but no room for the build itself. I would hope at least one person on the team could accommodate a spot for the build. I would prefer all team members have some racing/autocross/track day experience, but it is not necessary.
As far as the car. According to the rules it must be purchased for under $500. There are a number of good options in that price range. I would me majorly interested in building a FWD coupe with a DOHC 4 cylinder engine because they seem to do best in the races overall, however, I am open to suggestions.
