Because at least with front wheel drive. There are no good street tires available. Plus you are limited to size because they have to turn. I have tried the BFG Drag radial in the biggest size io can fit 225-50-15. They have no traction. I knocked .5 sec on my 60ft times alone on slicks. Another .5 down the rest of the track. Thats why i have to use slicks.
