Assuming you are between the ages of 16 to 21...have fun with the insurance on an Si or anything similar (GTI, SER, etc). Stick with a regular Civic to keep insurance costs somewhat reasonable.

Also check out a couple year old VW Rabbit. They are safe, reliable, and very fun to drive (good amount of torque with the 5-cylinder). They had a 4yr 50k warranty up through most of the '09 production year.

Subaru Impreza is also another good one (not the WRX).
