I love these threads, because they always break down to "did the other guy know he was racing" or "he was just playing with you". Assuming this guy is stock and in a 1996 Viper, he was making 450bhp and weighing in at a relatively portly 3400+lbs. Power to weight ratio: 7.55555(lb):1(hp). Billy's car weighs just over 3000lbs wet and his little 4 banger is making a hair under 400bhp, assuming the accepted 26% AWD drivetrain loss standard is accurate for our cars. Power to weight ratio: 7.5:1. He also has very aggressive gearing, which helps 0-100mph acceleration quite a bit. So why couldn't he hang with a stock Viper RT-10 again??
I can run with a stock Z06 to ~100mph and my car is about 10bhp short of Billy's. These arguments always end up going

because people just fail to consider the physics involved. I like the big American mullet-muscle machines, but there are certainly rice burners out there that can run with them. This straightline stuff is all good, but I'd really, really, really love to race a stock Z06 or Viper through some heavy twisties...because any idiot can go fast in a straight line.
