VLSD stubs are longer (like the one on the far right) to engage the viscous coupler in the center of the diff. If you use open stubs, they'll technically "fit" in the diff, they just won't engage the locking part. Basically it would behave like an open diff.



'92 to mid '94 J30 axles are 5-bolt. Call autozone/advance and see what a pair of remanned axles is gonna set you back. You can turn in your 6 bolt axles as a core, they won't know the difference.

edit* Napa has remanned axles for $60 each.
