the stock DSM long block is good for more than 8500 its just that the cams are not ground for such high RPM operation and its a dog over 6000 so there realy isnt much reason for people to raise the redline.
boost doesnt really equal HP, CFM sort of equals HP... more precisely, Lb/min of air equals HP... CFM can change alot when the weather changes but a LB of air is still a LB of air... thats why you see most of the real compressor maps measured in Lb/min... IIRC a good rule of thumb is 1 lb of air could make 10 HP in a properly tuned and supported application.
Torque is more important than HP... HP is just a function of torque Vs. RPM. Torque x RPM / 5252= HP... IIRC. torque wins races, HP sells cars

anywho, Leon Reitman and Phil Beers both run better than 12.0's in their 14b's... but since then, they have upgraded past the 14b i think.. but Phill Dyno'd his 14b w/ very simple mods laid down over 280 WTQ and about 260 WHP. he had the same amount of Tq at 21 psi as he did at 20 psi... so like ive always said: 20 psi is about as much as the 14b can support.
hes JUST recently added some new mods since those dyno runs:
-2G Maf
-Super AFC 2
-550cc injectors
-Upgraded stcok Sidemount--2.25" in/out--Dejontool
-1.75" outlet elbow and 2.25" lower I/C pipe-Dejontool
-2G maf intake pipe-Dejontool
-Buschur upper I/C pipe
...tiny bit more weight out....
now, I have a 3" DP and test to replace my 2.5", this stuff will go on, but I am considering going crazy and just yanking the exhaust and dumping off the o2 housing........not sure yet.
so he should be able to EASILY lay down 290 WHP on a DynoJet w/ those mods. He can drive the shit out of his car and its pretty light so, 11s are very possible on his setup... Leon Reitman already ran an 11.84 on STOCK 14B... so there... put that in your pipe and smoke it.
btw, the 14G is not the same as the 14B
