I could hear the music as I pulled from US19 into Sun Toyota of New Port Richey. An abundance of Wing House chicks were passing out an abundance of wings in about three flavors with plenty of sauce. It was chilly and I guess I wasn't "with it" wing-wise.
After I finished off the plateful, I ate three hot dogs before Sabrett ran out of 'em. Toys for kids were collected in a Scion XB. I did my part to Stuff the XB when I tossed in the kid's bike helmet and water bottle that I brought with me. It must have brought me good luck in the raffle..because.....
I won the new car!
....it was a red die cast model of a Scion tc...

People close to my ticket number were winning all over the place......sound stuff, speakers, play station, merchandise from the vendors....
The vendors did the judging as well as put up money and trophys for winners. Sun Toyota on US19 in New Port Richey was the site of the
meet/show/party. I registered as Senor Honda in car 27 and the lot was filled up an hour later.
Toyota is promoting the fun of buying their cars with a social life
attached to the car. They sent a rep from California to take pictures and hang out. She brought CASES of swag with her.
The swag bags had two key chains, two T-shirts, stuffed fuzzy Scions,
backpacks, visors, can coolers, commemorative pens and a DVD
of Scion events. I still haven't figured out how to put on those 4" tall knit
socks......
Been to a few meets where custom cars were jokingly called "ricers" by the "stockers".... LOL.
Lots of good quality show cars showed up for this! No trophy for "stock".
MC Mike and crew gave $100 bills and trophys to the class winners....some winners were people I knew. The best of show got $500 cash...and he deserved it. The car was highly customized and super clean.
To be fair, for best club award they did not count the Scion Scikotics. The club that won was a variety of cars known as Cobra Crew..... a club, people who I never met until that night, but they are coming back for the Peabodys car show coming up soon.
All kinds of cars were entered, some were American. Best
sound went to an Audi, Best paint to a BMW. Best Exterior to a
Nissan. Cleanest ride to the Jurassic Park Toyota SUV. A Ferrari
showed up and pulled into a roped off area....stayed for about 20 minutes, then left.
There were all kinds of cars entered. What a brilliant move by Toyota.
I have been invited to a lot of meets where only a certain kind of car was allowed, but the meets I enjoy the most are the ones where everyone is welcome.
A meet/show being open to all cars gives non-Toyota folks a chance to enjoy that the fun of having a car is the personal modifications that a person does, and in this case there were a lot of them. Toyota folks have always been a bunch of low drama friendly folks.
..............and the free event DVD? ............OMG! If you like cars, people and car stuff, you gotta see it folks.......I will have it with me at the meets I go to, and if you have a player in your car, you can watch it.
Disclaimer: Watching the Scion DVD makes you want to own one!-Bob
