some of you lakeland members may remember the old raddy truck that hauled ass. well, it finally lost its battle with cancer (aka rust) and has been put to rest. here is how it currently sits
so now that it is safe to say it will never be out on the streets again, I can come clean about the setup in the truck. I'm sure everyone figured out it wasn't a 307 with an exhaust leak as was told before. in actuality it was a 69 Olds 455 bored .030 over, all forged bottom end, 10.5:1 compression, reproduction w-30 cam, "J" heads, ported and polished, 2.00/1.70 valves, offenhashared_user highrise intake, long tube headers. engine made 465 hp and 550 ftlbs of torque. it was backed by a built turbo 350 trans with a 12 bolt posi rear with 3.73 gears. although all the runs made that everyone knows were done with the old 3.08 open diff rear which required very gentle launches and feathering the gas up until abou 70 mph. flooring it below that resulted in overwhelming tire spin
so now what? well, the 455 has been sold. but all the other parts are being transplanted into a new project, the farm truck 2. again going with an Oldsmobile power plant. but with a few twists. the new truck is shorter, lighter, and not nearly as rusty. here's a look at how it started out.
looks much different already, and hopefully within a couple more months will be driveable. so just giving everyone a heads up, and to look for the new truck in the near future
