Basically what I got from the article was that some ports come oversized from the factory- then people run out and oversize them even more...assuming that it's going to improve performance. But what happens is they figure since they are doing the porting...might as well do the other internal performance stuff at the same time. Then they attribute the net increase in performance partially to the larger ports, when in fact, they may have reduced performance. But it's masked by the other work done.

He had taken stock heads and reduced port sizes, and got improved performance. That's all I was getting at (:
