That does not make much sence...
It should code if its going bad.

I recommend you use a voltmeter & a helms or haynes manual & check the proper a/f output on you're vehicle.
I believe it should read .1 volts while the car is cold (1st start up in the morning). Then once the car is warm & you hit the throttle it jumps to 1 volt max... I am not positive on that... I forgot the specs, but they are in the manual.

Btw, if you're 02 sensor is giving you a proper reading on the white wire & you're car is still doing what its doing, I recommend looking into othere causes like a Cap & Rotor replacement & spark plug wire & plug replacement.
