Electrical/sound problems..?
I put in a new alternator and a battery a few short weeks ago, and just a few days ago my stereo system started acting up.
Sound is produced normally, but cuts off entirely at a certain RPM, depending on how much electricity is being used. For example, during the day with no headlights, A/C, or defogger, the sound will cut out at anything past 1500 RPM, and will come back when idling at a red light or something.
I've found that using more electricity sort of extends the threshold at which my sound system gives out. In order to listen to anything through my speakers, I have to have on any combination of headlights, A/C, defogger, etc.
WTF.
So it seems to me, though I don't know too much about electrical systems, that the sound dies because the stereo is being overloaded with power. I checked all the fuses I could think of, and they're fine.
Any help diagnosing this problem is appreciated. Please and thank you, TR.
