To be running that with E7's is pretty good.
My guess is the carb is jetted close to perfect,.. maybe 1 or 2 sizes off at the most. Just need some minor tweaks to get it right.
Have you pulled the plugs? How do they read?
Since you just got the car buy some new plugs. They dont have to be expensive,.. motor should run great on $12 worth of Motorcraft plugs. Thats all I ran in mine. Right after you install them.. make a 1 - 3rd run to what ever max RPM you shift at. Go back and pull a couple plugs. If you dont know how to read them,.. take some good clear in focus pics in good light and post them here for me. I can tell you exactly what the motor needs.
Reading the ground strap tells if the heat range of the plug is right for the motor and shows if the ignition advance is set correctly. You watch for where on the ground strap the change of color starts.
The base ring shows if the carb is jetted properly,.. lean/rich. Very sooty or thick shows too rich,.. nothing with some yellowing and/or spots on the porcelain shows too lean. If the motor is running pig rich,.. the porcelain is usually perfectly clean and white.
And you watch the porcelain for spotting or other marks to show signs of detonation.
I need pics like these. And the reading needs to be from a clean freshly installed plugs. Plugs with more than 50 miles on them will have skewed results. The plugs can show if your lean or rich on the bottom end,.. and lean or rich on the top end. Then you will know how to jet the carb. The stumbling, or burping can be fixed with changing accelerator pump cams, squirters and power valves.
