One thing to think about,.. a stumble doesnt always mean its rich. If its a double pumper,.. its very possible to have a lean stumble and then go pig rich if the squirter or accelerator pump is too small but the power valve or valves is/are too big and/or jetted too large.
A 302/306 making 340hp spinning 6500 RPM works perfectly fine with a 600/650 CFM carb. Anything larger would be too much for something as small as a 302.

8.6@88 mph in the 1/8 is pretty damn good for a 5.0 especially with a 2.1 60'. What cam is in it,.. or do you know? Aftermarket heads I assume?
