I dont see why that wouldnt work. Ive taken the exhaust/o2 housing off and just left the compressor hanging there before lol.
Then again its like two nuts on the down-pipe and four bolts to pull the whole turbo... Not a big deal at all...especially if you have to pull the lines and what-not. Have fun with those.
Yep this is pretty much what i want to do, pull the vband, slide out the compressor and hotside wheel, leaving just the WG actuator and the exhaust housing. I am just going to use this turbo for about 6 months while I work on getting all the necessary parts I will need to build either my HX40 setup, or ... well I have several others in mind. lol i wanted to paint the compressor housing. Its not a big deal and when I decide and begin to purchase my final turbo kit I will have my compressor powder coated red. Similar to an APS 40 Turbo. So for the time being is there a paint durable enough to not bubble or turn pink from the heat. I don't really get that warm and fuzzy feeling from the standard engine paint at Advance Auto.
